My Favorite Things

July 3rd, 2008 by Robbie

I enjoy naming my posts after songs ^_^ Anyway, since I haven’t blogged in a few days, I thought I should. And since I don’t provide too much information about myself in my biography, I thought I would share some of my favorites in this post, so that stalkers can know more about me. If you want to know something specific, comment (I like comments).

Let us begin with television, which I do not watch much of. I will claw off your face, however, if you interrupt me during Desperate Housewives. In my spare time, I watch Gray’s Anatomy and Samantha Who? online. I used to watch Charmed, and I like eighties cartoons like Voltron and She-Ra: Princess of Power.

Movies are a bit more difficult. My all-time favorite movie is the 1959 remake of Imitations of Life, which makes me cry so much I get a headache. I also love The Color Purple and Somewhere in Time. In the comedy field, I love Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, and While You Were Sleeping. Musicals include The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, and Enchanted. Animated movies I love are Disney’s Cinderella, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Charlotte’s Web (original), and Don Bluth’s Thumbelina.

I love musicals, and I have an extensive music collection of cast albums. Some that I particularly enjoy are Mame, Legally Blonde the Musical, Oliver!, and Into the Woods.

I read a lot of books, so I have a lot of favorites, here, too. Roots by Alex Haley, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, and East by Edith pattou stand out right now. My favorite Harry  Potter book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and my favorite Chronicles of Narnia book is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I like lemonade, especially the tart kind. Chicken Kiev and rice is one of my favorite meals. My favorite frozen meal is Stauffer’s Macaroni and Cheese.

My coffee beverageof choice is a skinny sugar-free-vanilla latte, but my favorite ice-blended beverage is a vanilla-coffee-thingy (Caffe Vanilla at *bucks).

That is all I can think of, but feel free to comment!

Starbucks Frozen Lemonade

June 25th, 2008 by Robbie

Starbucks has a new frozen lemonade drink. I don’t know why someone didn’t think of it sooner, since it seems so obvious, but whoever did is getting a bonus, because today was the first day it was out and when I went over I got the last one because they were out of mix. Yum!

Cream Cheese & Other Nonsense

June 23rd, 2008 by Robbie

Whimsical title, no? Anyway, this is a conglomerate post of several things that happpened to me today, as well as thoughts that struck me.

In the wee hours of this morning, I went to the store to get some deli bagels and cream cheese. I purchased the “whipped” cream cheese in a plastic tub, the kind that supposedly has air whipped into it to make it more spreadable, which it is. Two things struck me. The first was that I didn’t remember having spreadable cream cheese as a youngun, I had to use the block and have giant clumps of it fight me for dominance over the bagel. The second is that the tub I purchased was the same weight as the non-whipped tubs, but it was bigger because of the air. The price was the same, but it would make a lot of sense for some dubious company to charge more for it since the container is larger.

I then proceeded to get gasoline for my car. Right across from each other on opposite sides of the road were two gas stations that both use Conoco brand gas. One sign has the price as $4.19 per gallon. The other had a really great price of $3.97, so I took a few minutes and turned around to get the cheaper price. Turns out that the sign was wrong and they were charging the same price, but I only found this out AFTER I payed and filled my tank and looked at the “gallons” meter. Pissed me off.

I then proceeded on A Trip to the Library. The bestseller lists were from last week, which is the most up-to-date I’ve ever seen them, but The Host was still on order, after being a bestseller for more than a month. Another book that was on order that they should have by new was Audition by Barbara Walters. They must be ordering from the Pony Express or something.

In other news, I have finally written the second poem in Metamorphosis, which currently includes Cocoon. It is called Darkness. It only took me four years to find the proper inspiration and words.
